Whether it’s your first time on a cruise or you are a seasoned veteran, things have changed post pandemic. We’ve put together a little guide to help you on your travels and give you a couple reminders, especially with the changes from the pandemic.
Book reservations for activities and restaurants
A cruise ship is like a little city, there’s never a shortage of something to do, but it often creates high demand for the most desired activities like restaurants, and excursions. To make sure you don’t miss out we highly recommend booking your activities in advance so you can take full advantage of all that Cruising offers and make the most of your vacation. Here’s a great resource on how to do so!
Pack your bathing suit in your carry on
When you arrive at the ship, a porter will whisk away your luggage and it will be delivered to your room later in the day. This is super convenient as you wait in line for the check in process and explore the ship a bit once you board. However, as they have to manage the delivery of luggage for all, there is a strong chance you won’t see yours in time to freshen up and change. Any necessities you might urgently need or want should be in your carry-on bag, such as medications, phone charger, but also a bathing suit, hat, sunscreen, and other items so you can head straight to the pool deck and get the most out of your trip!
Download the cruise app
Most cruise lines have apps that you can download to your smartphone in advance of taking sail. These apps vary in their utility, but many will highlight a daily list of activities and all your confirmed bookings. Here’s an article with cruise line apps you need right now. These apps make it easy to make restaurant reservations, book shore excursions and other activities. Some even let you order drinks and magically they appear wherever you might be on the ship. The best part is these apps work on board so you don’t have to pay for a Wi-Fi package.
Get the right Travel Insurance
It’s so important to make sure you have the right Travel Insurance when taking a cruise. Due to the Canadian Government travel advisory against all cruise travel, most Travel Medical Insurance policies will not adequately cover you on your trip if you’re diagnosed with COVID-19. However, Goose’s annual COVID-19 / Pandemic plan, will provide coverage for emergency medical expenses related to COVID-19, regardless of the Federal Travel Advisories in place. This plan will also protect you should you be subject to quarantine procedures onboard the ship or in a foreign country. It’s important to read your policy wording and ensure you have the right coverage so you can enjoy your trip with peace of mind.
